As the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) embarks on its strike action on Monday, it will be joined by four unions in the aviation industry that could lead to a disruption in flight operations of many airline companies.
The aviation unions, in a statement, said that members of the union should drop their tools and join in the strike that is scheduled for 28 September 2020.
Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), and the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) are the unions that will be joining the NLC strike on Monday.
The statement by the union stated, “As you are aware, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have declared indefinite nationwide strike action with effect from Monday, September 28, 2020.

“Our unions as above named are in full support of the strike action.
“As such all workers in the aviation sector are hereby directed to withdraw their services at all aerodromes nationwide as from 00hrs of 28th September 2020 until otherwise communicated by the NLC/TUC or our union.
“All workers shall comply.”
The NLC's strike action is occasioned by the recent removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government alongside the increase in electricity tariff.
All NLC chairmen across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory have all signed on to the strike action.
