NLC Suspends Strike In Kaduna, See Why

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its five days warning strike in Kaduna State.

NLC had embarked on the 5-day warning strike over the decision of the state government to disengage about 7,000 workers across the 23 LGAs.

The Kaduna State Government led by Governor Nasir El-Rufai otherwise tagged as 'Hell Rufai' during the protest had said the decision was taken because the huge wage bill wasn’t sustainable.

El-Rufai had accused the NLC members of economic sabotage and declared their leaders wanted.

The strike action and protest plunged the state into an unusual crisis as the state government and the Labour Union engaged in a face-off.

The protest turned violent on Tuesday when thugs believed to be supporters of the state government hijacked the activities of the NLC.

However, the NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, Wednesday evening, said the decision to suspend the strike “is to honour the invitation of the Federal Government on Thursday to mediate in the dispute between labour and the Kaduna State Government”.
