The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have condemned the Zamfara state governor's non-Implementation of N30,000 minimum wage in the state.
The Unions stated that the governor, Bello Matawalle has not shown any commitment to implementing the minimum wage.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the unions jointly issued their complain in statement signed by the NLC secretary, Ahmed Abubakar and TUC secretary, Sani Kwotorkwoshi on Thursday.
According to the statement, it is either the government negotiators were not reporting to the government or the government denying workers their right deliberately.
According to the unions, the N30,000 minimum wage “must be implemented in any way possible”.
While the unions urged their members to remain patient, they said they have commenced consultations to see that the minimum wage is implemented.
According to the statement: “Labour was, however, not happy with the slow pace at which the issue of the N30,000 wage was being handled by the government.
“Labour, therefore, urged the government to see the best possible way to implement the N30,000 in the state, which is constitutional."
Meanwhile the unions commended the Zamfara state government for its commitment to workers' promotion and the adoption of an automated yearly salary increment for workers.
