NLC, TUC Strike Action Suffers Setback From Industrial Court

NLC, TUC Strike Action Suffers Setback From Industrial Court

NLC Strike Action

As a result of plans concluded by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to proceed on industrial action to protest the unilateral removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government, the National Industrial Court (NIC) has handed down a restraining order to the unions.

Reecently, the NLC and the TUC threatened to embark on a nationwide strike following the recent removal of fuel subsidy by the Nigerian government.

The unions are concerned about the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy on the prices of goods and services, as well as the economic hardship it may cause for Nigerians, especially those on low-income.

However, in a recent development, the National Industrial Court on Monday granted an interim order restraining the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress from embarking on strike on Wednesday.

The presiding judge, Justice O. Y. Anuwe, issued the order and adjourned for further hearing till June 19.
