NMA Warns Nigeria On Deadly Ebola, Lassa, COVID-19 Outbreak

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has yesterday advised Nigeria to prepare for deadlier Lassa fever, Ebola Virus and COVID-19 outbreaks.

Professor Innocent Ujah, the President of the NMA spoke at the opening of the December National Executive Council (NEC) meeting as he stressed the need to put together effective prevention measures.

“This will help in building and maintaining public trust in the prevention and control of outbreaks,” he said.

Lassa fever is an animal-borne and acute viral illness as the Ebola virus was traceable to Guinea. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported that 52 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and one death were recorded in Nigeria.
