Nnamdi Kanu Chides Buhari On Armed Forces Remembrance Day

Nnamdi Kanu has lashed at President Muhammadu Buhari following the refusal of the peace pigeons to fly from their cage during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Abuja.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Kanu in a tweet on Friday described Buhari as a failure.

"This is to tell you that Nigeria is a failed country and Jubril called Buhari by the cabals is a failure too. Biafra is the only way,” he said.

As a sign of peace,  the president yearly releases white pigeons from a cage during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration.

However, like other years, the pigeons released on the 2021 occasion of the event refused to fly after the president freed them.

Buhari had picked one of the pigeons and thrown it into the air but it flew back into the cage immediately.

The incident got Nigerians talking, as they described such as an evident fact of bad governance

However, it would be recalled that in 2019 where Pope Benedict XVI released doves during a Holocaust remembrance event. The doves were attacked by a gull, with one dove being singled out and injured, according to Wikipedia.

In 2014 also, the doves refused to fly when former President Goodluck Jonathan freed them. The Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry Enugu, Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka, described the incident at the time as a sign that God had abandoned Jonathan.
