Nnamdi Kanu Court Trial: Journalists Struggle, Exchange Rude Remarks [Video]

Nnamdi Kanu Court Trial: Journalists Struggle, Exchange Rude

Journalists at the high court  Abuja today almost got involved in a rowdy fight in a bid to get the lead story in the trial of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

Before the address of the lead counsel to Kanu, the large number of journalists present resorted to fighting for quality sound and ambience, with some rude remarks emerging from the fracas.

A TVC reporter who tried to restore order asked the journalists to create some space but in the fight to get it all, no one was ready to take the first step.

Words from the crowd were 'Who are you talking to like that?',  'Who are you dragging like that?',  'Move back!', 'Don't talk to me like that!', 'You are on your own', amongst others.

When it was time to begin interviews, the reporter who had tried to create order asked a colleague who could not be seen but heard to not cover her camera.  While addressing him, she said, "Don't do that, are you not a camera man?"

Responding, the reporter (probably a male as he sounded like one) told her not to point her mic at him again or he was going to slap her.

This actually took her by surprise judging from her facial expression as she asked him twice: "You will slap me?"

The person in question did not respond as the lead counsel could be heard advising some people to help other colleagues hold the mics to create room for all.

Meanwhile, the lead counsel Alex Ifeanyichukwu stated that the new charges were baseless and that he was not going to dwell on that as it has no connection to his client and mentioning it will only give credence to it.

He registered his displeasure at the court for not allowing the media and other lawyers into the court during proceedings.

A fleet of cars with security personnel moved Nnamdi Kanu from the court back to custody as the case was adjourned to November 10, 2021.
