Nnamdi Kanu: FG Set To Contest Judgement Freeing IPOB Leader

The federal government is poised to contest the judgement which struck out the terrorism charges against IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu and ordered his release from detention.

According to reports on Monday, the government has arrived at the Court of Appeal in Abuja and wants the Appellate Court to stay the execution of the judgement of October 13 which voided the rendition of Kanu from Kenya to Nigeria on account of breach of local and international laws.

According to a notice of appeal marked CA/ABJ/CR/625/2025, the federal government's motion would be determined by a three-man panel.

Spearheading Kanu's legal team, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) arrived in the court accompanied by  Ifeanyi Ejiofor, another senior lawyer in the team.

It was also gathered that heavily armed policemen have been stationed at the entrance of the court, searching all vehicles and their occupants to screening to avoid security breaches.
