Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB Leader To Be Rearraigned As FG Files Amend

An amended seven-count terrorism charge has been filed by the federal government against IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

The charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2015 was reportedly entered before the Federal High Court in Abuja and contains all charges against Kanu sustained by the trial court earlier.

According to the federal government, Kanu who is still in the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS) issued via a broadcast that anyone who flouted his sit-at-home order in the Southeastern part of the country should write his or her will.

It said the threat led to banks, schools, markets, shopping malls, and fuel stations in the southeast being shut down, with residents and vehicular movements restricted.

The government added that the IPOB leader had between 2018 and 2021 made broadcasts that incited the public to hunt and kill Nigerian security personnel and their family members.

Furthermore, it told the court that Kanu instructed IPOB members to manufacture bombs.

Monday, October 14, 2022, has been slated for Kanu's legal team and the prosecution counsel to address the court on the way forward in the case.
