Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB Leader To Remain In Custody

Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB Leader To Remain In Custody

The federal government's application for a stay of execution of the October 13 judgement freeing IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu was upheld on Friday.

The resumed hearing was presided over by Justice Haruna Tsanammi at the Court of Appeal, with the latest decision implying that Kanu will remain in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Tsanammi further instructed that the result of the ruling be forwarded to the Supreme Court within seven days for expeditious hearing.

The federal government had applied that the execution of the judgement be suspended in order to stop Kanu's release.

According to Tsanammi on Friday, the counter affidavit filed against the Federal Government’s application by Kanu’s legal team is misleading.

The embattled IPOB leader had been discharged by the Court of Appeal on October 13, with the terrorism charges brought against him by the federal government dropped.
