Social media personality, Kemi Olunloyo has claimed that the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is dead.
Allnews understands that this is not the first time Olunloyo would assert that the self-exiled Kanu died away from Nigeria.
She first raised the claim last Tuesday via her well-followed Twitter handle, only for her to retract her assertion later.
Olunloyo, like Kanu is a controversial figure.
In August 2012, Olunloyo was arrested in her apartment in Toronto by agents from the Canada Border Services Agency. After being determined a flight risk when her refugee visa was not renewed, she was remanded into custody at Vanier Centre for Women, a female maximum prison, for seven days before she was deported to Nigeria.
On March 14, 2017, Olunloyo was arrested by men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) over a controversial statement she made earlier in March about ex Nigeria president, Olusegun Obasanjo.
Over 48 hours later on March 16, 2017, it was revealed that she was being held in a Port Harcourt prison on the order of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) over her story of actress Iyabo Ojo and Pastor David Ibiyeomie in adultery mess.
On her handle on Sunday night, Olunloyo, 55, said Kanu died at 52, and that "whoever is broadcasting is an impostor meant to keep IPOB together".

However, Olunloyo did not mention in her seven-tweet thread when exactly the IPOB leader died as she is claiming.
#BREAKING UPDATE I was briefed by a top military defense dept source that Nnamdi Kanu did pass away in an Italian hospital as reported. I was also told that whoever is broadcasting is an impostor meant to keep IPOB together. The Italian Hospital source also confirmed it #RIPKanu pic.twitter.com/vWsStodaQv

Kanu's Twitter account @MaziNnamdiKanu is not verified but being run by IPOB Spokesman Emma Powerful who is yet to issue a statement on Kanu's reported death. On trying to authenticate the story last week, I was trolled by IPOB on Facebook/Twitter. @PoliceNG contacted me on that.

Kanu the one pictured is the same one that visited with FFK and Sowore. @SaharaReporters could not confirm it when I reported that I couldn't. Instead I was attacked by the very same IPOB who were praising me for reporting Abba Kyari's death 2 weeks before the government.

Late Kanu's IPOB was proscribed by @NigeriaGov as a terror group 17 mos after I warned the violent group to stop instigating journalists in 2016. Kanu regularly fed NIGERIANS with ethnic bigotry against Yorubas & Fulanis and told people @MBuhari was dead on his 2017 medical trip pic.twitter.com/HEZjjsh4MY

Kanu continued to feed false information on Buhari being dead calling him Jubril of Sudan, he met with Sowore and FFK the very same Yorubas he demeaned. I contacted FFK when I first heard of the death. He said Kanu was alive and well when they spoke. What happened after?

Kanu's wife is in the UK and is reportedly angry at IPOB Spokesmen for "covering her husband's death up" and not announcing. I asked my defense dept source if they will announce, they said in due course. Meanwhile a double is on air on his program. I have asked for a live video

Nobody knows where the double is broadcasting from. IPOB continues to be a nuisance and reportedly working on who will head the terror group next or if Biafra will be achieved. #RIPNnamdiKanu

Meanwhile, while Allnews cannot confirm Olunloyo's claims regarding the possible death of Kanu as at the time of publishing this report, Allnews reports that Kanu did make his routine broadcast on Sunday evening as hundreds of his supporters followed online.
