Nnamdi Kanu Is Greatest Enemy Of Ndigbo In Last 200 Years - Ohanaeze

Nnamdi Kanu Is Greatest Enemy Of Ndigbo In Last 200 Years -

Barrister Uche Okwukwu, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an apex Igbo socio-cultural group in Nigeria, has labeled Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) "the greatest enemy of Ndigbo in the last 200 years".

Allnews reports that the legal practitioner claims self-exiled Kanu is "undermining our people" and his actions could negatively affect the chances of the Southeast producing the next Nigerian president.

“This is a man that asked Igbo to destroy their Voters Registration Cards and not to vote. 48 hours to the election, he collected money from PDP and asked the people to vote; so what will they have used to vote?" Okwukwu told Daily Post recently.

“Kanu’s action undermines the interest of Ndigbo politically. He’s an enemy of the Igbo man. In any serious land and clime, they will catch him and flog him because he’s undermining our people.

“Today, you can see the votes that came out of Igbo land, three thousand votes from Abia; 600,000 votes from Anambra; 500,000 votes from Enugu; 300,000 votes from Ebonyi; 500, 000 votes from Imo. Is that the number of votes that will produce Igbo president?

“All the votes from the Southeast are not up to that of Jigawa and Katsina, so Nnamdi Kanu is commissioned to destroy the Igbo race. The enemies of Ndigbo gave him money to destroy us. He’s the greatest enemy of Ndigbo in the last 200 years. I equate him to a slave master.”

Kanu holds both Nigerian and British nationality and says he is Jewish.

He has been campaigning for an independent state of Biafra in south-eastern Nigeria.

In 2015, Kanu was charged with "criminal conspiracy, intimidation, and membership of an illegal organization" - charges that could amount to treason.

He was released on bail in April 2017 after spending more than 19 months without trial on treason charges.

He then renewed his campaign for independence, before his house in the south-eastern Abia state was raided by the military.

Kanu disappeared from public view after his home was raided by the Nigerian military in September 2017.

There had been speculations regarding his whereabouts for over a year with members of his proscribed IPOB accusing the Muhammadu Buhari government of masterminding his abduction.

He would later reappear in October 2018 after photographs and videos of him in Israel were widely circulated on social media.

He has continued to tour various countries in Europe while a case of treason brought against him by the government of Nigeria continues to lie pending.
