NNPP Alleges Monumental Fraud, Leakages In Kano Revenue Serv

Kano's major opposition, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has accused the Ganduje administration of allowing alleged monumental fraud and revenue leakage in the state revenue service.

The accusation was made by the NNPP Governorship Candidate in the State, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf at the official presentation of his blueprint and unveiling of his Governorship running mate Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.

The blueprint contained 70 pages with 13 major components dissect projected action plans on health, education, infrastructure, agriculture, commerce, security and other areas of priorities.

Presenting the abridged version of the document before crowd of Kwankwasiyya loyalists and supporters, Yusuf lamented that revenue collection and generation is shielded with secrecy and irregularities.

The NNPP Governorship candidate who accused the Kano Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) of hiding diversion of revenue through engagement of tax and revenue collection consultants.

He however said if elected, he would restore financial discipline in the service by first abolishing the services of consultants.

He also pledged to introduce Treasury Single Account TSA for all payment of revenue and tax collection in the state.

On education, Yusuf disclosed readiness to reinstate foreign and domestic scholarship and reopen entrepreneurship and skill acquisition centres allegedly abandoned by the present administration.

The NNPP Governorship candidate announced plan to complete construction of 3,000 housing units across the three cities established by Kwankwaso’s administration, regretted the state of dilapidated. Yusuf worried the low cost houses which stood at 95 percent completion was abandoned by the present administration.

Yusuf said Kwankwaso’s administration where he served as Commissioner for Works left the sum of US$42 million for the completion of Independent Hydro Power Project at Tiga and Challawa. 

He accused the Ganduje’s government of mismanaging the fund while leaving the project stagnated for several years.

Unveiling his running mate, Yusuf revealed that the choice of Comrade Abdulsalam was based on credibility and competence demostrated over the years.

Accepting his nomination, Comrade Abdulsalam promised to remain loyal and committed to transparent and accountability project of Yusuf administration if voted to power.

He urged residents to embrace transformation government pledge by NNPP and resist any attempt to shortchange their mandate in 2023 elections.
