NNPP chieftain credits Kwankwaso for party's prominence

A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Malam Hisham Habib has credited the entry of the national leader and presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 elections, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, with propelling the party into prominence more than ever before.

As a former Kano State chairman of the party, Habib, who has been both a member and a witness to the party's activities before and after Kwankwaso's arrival with his supporters, expressed his discontent with the statements attributed to the party's founder.

He described the statements as lacking decorum and contentment on Saturday while speaking with the press in Kano.

Habib said the party was at its lowest rating and the leadership had not been able to resuscitate its weak structures, especially in the states, before the coming of Kwankwaso.

He argued that the founder of the party, Dr Boniface Aniebonam and his loyalists should be grateful to God for having Kwankwaso in the party which hitherto could not sponsor delegates to a convention, talkless of winning at the polls.

"Kwankwaso's entry brought NNPP the first major victory that was spectacular and unimaginable, we won the governorship of Kano State with the highest number of votes in the country.

"Our governor scored more than a million votes which no other governor scored and that was a milestone and a feat, moreover the party's presence at the national assembly is unprecedented, " he said

The NNPP chieftain urged the Board of Trustee Chairman to "ignore the evil machinations of saboteurs who are scared of the successes recorded by the party and the prospects it has in the near future."

He noted that Kwankwaso has maintained consistency in his interactions with his supporters, earning him respect both nationally and globally.

Habib remarked that Nigerians from diverse backgrounds joined the party because the majority of members nationwide viewed Kwankwaso as a leader due to his impressive background.
