The National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) has refuted claims that some Corp Members -- still in orientation camp -- have been infected with the Coronavirus.

In an interview with BBC, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, said the alleged Corp members didn't make it to the camp, adding that the number is less than reported.

Daily Trust had on Wednesday morning, reported that 109 Corp members had been infected by the virus.

The report added that the Corp members were from various states following commencement of training in camps.

The camps opened over the weekend to train Batch B, Stream 1 Corp members for the year 2021.

The NYSC DG said 71,000 corp members were enrolled in the camps.

Refuting the claims, he said, "I want to assure you that those in the camps are not infected because all those who come to the camp have to be tested, including myself."

He further stated that, "As for the number of cases, 4, 5, 6 people are infected in the camps but I heard romours of 109. It is the NCDC that has this information, if you go they will give it to you. If they are infected, we take them to isolation centres."
