No Govt In Nigeria's History Has Fought Corruption More Than Buhari - Osinaga

No Govt In Nigeria's History Has Fought Corruption More Than

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Segun Osinaga, says that the arrest of the embattled former boss of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, is testament to the tremendous fight against corruption by the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

Speaking on Channels TV's Politics Today recently, Osinaga said that there was proof of the ardous work in the fight against corruption by the current administration and it can be seen in the amount of money that had been recovered.

He maintained that there has been no government "in the history of Nigeria" that has channeled more energy into the fight against corruption, adding that "things can be done better."

He suggested that for proper checks to be done, as in the case of Magu, "periodic reviews" should have been conducted, as well as "checks and balances."

Osinaga said, “This government has done tremendously well in fighting corruption; the pieces of evidence are there. We have seen how much money (has been recovered).

“No government in the history of Nigeria has done more in fighting corruption than this government. Don’t forget that. And of course, things can be done better.

“A person like Mr Magu should have gone through periodic reviews, checks, and balances. In that way, you could check things. So those are missing."

He said that the president's decision to set party loyalty and favorites aside, calling for a panel to be created to probe Magu showed the party's (APC) renewed dedication in its fight against corruption.
