It was indeed a sad day for the Nollywood industry as it recorded yet another death of a prominent actor Ernest Asuzu. Asuzu died on January 26, 2021. He was 36 years old.
Asuzu slumped and died on Tuesday evening, reports said. He had been bedridden for three years after he came down with a stroke in 2015 which affected his speech.
He was born on May 7, 1984. He began his acting career in the ’90s and rose to prominence after he starred in the 1997 Nollywood classic, ‘Rituals’.
According to the Director of Communications Actors Guild of Nigeria Monalisa Chinda Coker, who confirmed the death of the actor to AllNews Nigeria in a statement dated Tuesday, that the actor died on his way to the hospital on Tuesday.
The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, also confirmed his death to Punch on Wednesday.
“Yes, Ernest Asuzu is dead. I am trying to reach his wife to get the full details. I will get back to you,” Rollas said.

Recall that he had an interview with PREMIUM TIMES in 2015 when he announced that Jeremiah Funfeyin of Mercyland Deliverance Ministry healed him of stroke and is bouncing back and ready to return to doing what he knows how to do best.
