Nollywood Film 'Eyimofe' Gets Theatrical Release Date

Eyimofe, the directorial debut film of Arie and Chuko Esiri, is finally coming to movie cinemas as a new release date has been fixed.

The critically-acclaimed feature had an impressive run at the 2020 Berlinale Film Festival and is now scheduled for a theatrical release on April 23, 2021.

Written by Chuko Esiri and produced by Melissa AdeyemoEyimofe follows Mofe, a factory technician, and Rosa, a hairdresser, in their singular quest for a better life abroad.

It stars Jude Akuwudike, Temi Ami-WilliamsCynthia EbijieSadiq DabaTomiwa EdunJacobs AlexanderChigul, and Lala Akindoju. It is executive produced by Maiden Alex IbruToke Alex IbruOlorogun Oskar IbruKayode Akindele, and Ifeoma Esiri.

Eyimofe was filmed across 48 locations in Lagos, Nigeria, while a few portions were filmed in New York. It opened to extremely positive reviews from critics and was screened at various global international film festivals.

The movie won the Purple List Award and was chosen as one of the ten projects in the 2019 IFP Narrative Lab in New York. The trailer is available for viewing below.
