'Northern Nigeria Now Worse Than Somalia' - Ex-Pro-Biafra Group, IPOB’s New Media Coordinator

'Northern Nigeria Now Worse Than Somalia' - Ex-Pro-Biafra Gr

Amaka Ekwo, the former Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB's) New Media and Special Duties Coordinator and Press Secretary to Nnamdi Kanu, has posited that Northern Nigeria is 'becoming worse than Somalia security situation', AllNews reports.

The erstwhile aide to Kanu, the IPOB leader, shared her thoughts on the state of insecurity in the Northern region of Nigeria via her known Twitter handle Monday.

Subsequently, Ekwo lamented over the general security situation in Nigeria, asking Southerners to 'get prepared now'.

The kidnap of scores of students in Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari’s home state over the weekend has thrown a spotlight on the ex-general’s handling of national security, as violence afflicts every region of Africa’s most populous country.

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents abducted an unknown number of pupils from a boys’ high school in Katsina state on Friday night in what has become a familiar occurrence in Nigeria, where kidnapping-for-ransom is rife.

Buhari condemned “the cowardly bandits’ attack on innocent children” in a statement on Saturday.

He said the military had located the kidnappers in a forest and engaged them in a firefight, aided by air support.

According to the International Crisis Group (ICG), bandit violence has displaced more than 200,000 people in the north-west.

Killings in Katsina have doubled this year compared to 2019.
