Nottingham Forest Sack Giraldi As Director With Immediate Effect

Nottingham Forest, the struggling Premier League side, has announced that Filippo Giraldi has been relieved of his duties as Sporting Director with immediate effect.

Giraldi, who was hired in October, had been with the club for just six months.

Upon joining Forest, Giraldi oversaw a busy transfer window with over 20 signings made in the close season after the club's promotion to the Premier League. In January, another seven signings were added, but results on the pitch have been mixed, with the team currently sitting in the relegation zone and winless in their last nine games.

"Filippo would like to place on record his thanks to the club and wishes Nottingham Forest the best of luck for the future," said the club in a statement, adding that his departure was amicable.

Last week, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis released a statement dispelling rumours of a possible sacking of coach Steve Cooper, stating that the manager's position remained unchanged despite the club's difficult position in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest, currently 18th in the Premier League with 27 points from 30 games, is set to host Manchester United on Sunday in their next fixture.
