NPA Investigates Counterfeits E-Call-Ups

NPA Investigates Counterfeits E-Call-Ups

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) says it is investigating cases of counterfeiting of its call-ups in circulation.

“We are currently investigating some cases where truck drivers were caught with counterfeited e-call up slip in order to by-pass security and officials saddled with the responsibility but we are on top of the situation," NPA said in a statement.

“We will beat them to their game.

“This was the major factor responsible for the initial confusion on the major road within the first week of commencement of the e-call up system.

“ We are determined to checkmate the illicit act,” NPA said on its official Twitter page on Thursday.

Recall that the take-off of the truck electronic call-up system in February was structured to be powered by a web application called “Eto” to put an end to the perennial logjam caused by articulated trucks within the port corridor.

According to Bala-Usman, it is critical to put an end to the intractable Apapa traffic to restore sanity to cargo operations at the Lagos port.

She noted that the web application (Eto) would enthrone transparency and orderliness to truck movement as scheduling was done automatically on a first-come, first-served basis.
