Akwa United head coach Ayodeji Ayeni has expressed his disappointment over his side's league defeat against Remo Stars on Sunday.
He described the outcome of the match as "Unfortunate" as the Promise Keepers fell to a 1-0 defeat against the Sky Blue Stars who recorded their first-ever win over Akwa United in six attempts in the NPFL.
The winning goal was scored by Junior Nduka who converted from the spot in the first-half to earn his side the maximum points to move to third position on the Group A table while Akwa United dropped to fourth.
“It’s rather unfortunate that we didn’t get any points from the game.
"In my opinion, we played well but the outcome of the match is not a true reflection of what happened during the match.
"Apart from that penalty, the result would have been different,” Ayeni told the club’s media.
He however reckoned that they have to put the defeat behind them and focus on winning their remaining two games to stand a chance of securing a spot in the Super Six.
“We have to put this defeat behind us quickly and set our minds on the remaining two games knowing all that we have planned and worked for this season can be achieved if we win the remaining matches,” the gaffer added.
