NPFL fine Enyimba N10M, Enugu Rangers  N5M for league fracas

The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, have awarded three points and three goals to Enugu Rangers in the aftermath of the fracas that broke out in the oriental derby between the 'Flying Antelopes' and two-time CAF Champions League on Sunday.

The matchday 35 fixture at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu desended into chaos when a penalty was awarded to the home side as the match petered away as fans of the 'Peoples Elephant' broke the stadium and invaded the stadium wielding dangerous objects.

The NPFL found Enyimba guilty o breaching its five rules governing the game and subsequently fined the Aba side the sum of N10 million for bringing the game to disrepute.

However, league leaders, Rangers, got a N5 million fine for over-ticketing and inability to provide sufficient security and lack of effective crowd control.

Both clubs have until 48 hours to respond to the charges as contained in a Summary Juridiction Notice sent to them.

The Peoples Elephant have also ordered to produce three of their players; Eze Ekwutoziam, Akanni Elijah and Chibuike Nwaiwu for further investigation and appropriate sanctions.
