Enyimba striker Emeka Obioma registered a brace to give his side a win over Shooting Stars in the Nigerian top flight.
The match ended 2-0 at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Wednesday night.
Within two minutes, Obioma headed the People's Elephant into an early lead from Yakubu's freekick.
Then at the brink of half-time, he got his brace with a confident finish after a through ball from Awazie.
The double scored by Obioma makes it the third time he has registered a brace this term.
He got his first brace against Kwara United and registered the second against El Kanemi Warriors on home turf.
This takes his tally to seven goals in eight appearances.
It is hoped that he will reproduce his goal-scoring form in front of goal to give Enyimba the win in their clash against table-toppers Bendel Insurance on February 19.
Enyimba are in second position in Group A with 16 points, four points behind Insurance.
A win for the People's Elephant at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin could reduce the gap at the top of the table to just one point.
