NPFL: Niger Tornadoes End Barren Run Of Six Games

The six-game barren run of Niger Tornadoes came to an end on Sunday with a hard-fought victory over Dakkada in the Nigerian top flight league.

The Ikon Allah Boys since winning their opening two games of the season went on a winless streak before Sunday's win.

David Okoromi got his side an important three points after putting Idris Saidu's free kick into the back of the net.

He had a chance to double the advantage but missed from the spot after Taofeeq Babatunde was hacked down.

Coach Abubakar Bala Mohammed was impressed with his side's win, saying the result is a sign of improvement.

“You can see that there is a little improvement in the area of converting chances; that we have been working on, even though a lot still needs to be done.

"The players were a bit calm in front of goal today despite the fact that many chances were also squandered,” Mohammed said after the game.

The gaffer assured fans of the club that his side will improve on their performances when the season resumes after the mid-season break.

"One area which is quite disturbing is anxiousness in front of goal, however, we have taken note and will work on that before the league restarts,” he added.
