NPFL: South West Derby Won't Be About Emotions - Ogunbodede

NPFL: South West Derby Won't Be About Emotions - Ogunbodede

Ahead of the south-west derby between Remo Stars and Shooting Stars in matchday three of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), the manager of Remo Stars Daniel Ogunbodede has said that the battle for bragging rights will be devoid of emotions from his men.

The clash between both clubs is scheduled for today as the Sky Blue Stars will play host to Gbenga Ogunbote's side in Ikenne.

Ogunbodede's men will be going into the match as the better side having picked up six points from two games played while 3SC have just two points from their opening two games.

In the derby fixture last season, Remo Stars won the game at Ikenne but held the Oluyole Warriors to a draw at Ibadan in the reverse fixture, though under the managerial capacity of Ogunbote who is now in charge of 3SC.

“Coach Ogunbote is a senior colleague and a father figure to me,” Ogunbodede told PUNCH.

"I have much respect for him but I am not going to allow any emotion.

"I only want to do my job and get what I want.  So, I am not trying to use my heart to play, I am trying to use my head.

“The only thing going through my mind is getting the three points from the match.

"Nothing good comes easy and there is no cheap opponent.

"We are going to fight to get all three points against Shooting Stars.”

Ogunbote who led Remo to a continental spot last season will consider his knowledge of the Sky Blue Stars as a competitive advantage to get the Shooting Stars their first win of the season.
