Kano State Command of the NSCDC has arrested two suspects in connection with cases of robbery, theft and vandalisation of armoured cables (45mm) and 3 driven unit batteries belonging to Kano Electricity Distribution Company ( KEDCO).
The arrest was made by officers of Anti- the Vandalism Unit of the Corp at the KEDCO's distribution sub-station situated at Briscoe Independence Road, Nassarawa local government.
According to a statement signed by the Command's Spokesman, DSC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi on Friday, the officers had swiftly responded to a midnight distress call about happenings at the station.
"The suspects: Anas Shamsu 'M' 26yrs of Kumbotso local government and Nasiru Muhammad 'M' 25yrs of Tamburawa Yamma, Dawakin Kudu Local government area. The suspects are currently in the custody of the Corps undergoing investigation in conclusion of which they will be prosecuted."
The Spokesman added that their operatives are currently on the trail of 3 more suspects; Abenja, Ghali and Abbati are currently at large.
The NSCDC decried how the vandalisation of the armour cables and three-driven unit batteries has largely affected the supply of electricity to many communities in Kano.
The Corp however noted that the recent arrest and eventual recovery of the items will no doubt bring succour there by restoring the power supply to those areas.
