NSCDC deploys motorcycles for surveillance in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has deployed motorcycles to enhance surveillance and combat vandalism of public infrastructure and other critical national assets in the FCT.

The Commandant of the NSCDC FCT Command, Olusola Odumosu, ordered the deployment, noting that the motorcycles were donated by the FCT Minister to support the Corps' operations.

On Monday, at the Command headquarters in Wuse, Zone 5, Abuja, Odumosu presented four motorcycle keys to the head of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, CNAI, department and one to the head of intelligence and investigation.

The Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command of NSCDC, Samuel Idoko, stated that Odumosu instructed the department heads to use the motorcycles for 24-hour surveillance, monitoring, and protection of Abuja residents and infrastructure.

This initiative follows the donation of five motorcycles by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, aimed at eliminating criminal activities in the city centre and remote areas of the territory.

Odumosu said: "The Hon Minister of the FCT had supported us with motorcycles to ease our operations. He must not regret doing so, therefore, in return, we must ensure that we give him the desired results.

"The motorcycles will assist you to navigate through some narrow areas such as bushes and bad roads you are unable to reach before for improved surveillance.

"Brace up, and don't forget, I expect nothing but results, especially now that the minister is sinking so much energy and resources into the infrastructural development of the FCT”.

He also cautioned personnel not to allow miscreants to spoil the good work of the present administration in improving the FCT transportation system.

"The Abuja Metro line would be commissioned very soon, we must join forces with the government to make the commissioning and take off of its commercial operations a reality.

"I want you to pay serious attention to that sector to stop vandalism of the rail sleepers, cables and other components that could jeopardise its operations.

"And remember also, that, street lights are being repaired, manhole covers being replaced, and new roads are being constructed in an unprecedented manner."
