NSCDC Nabs 457 Crude Oil Thieves, 13 Illegal Miners In Delta

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) reported that in 2022 it detained roughly 457 people in relation to the theft of crude oil and unlawful trade in petroleum products.

Additionally, for causing instability in various regions of the state, 13 suspected illegal miners and seven suspected Bororo Fulani were detained. 59 trucks, 1529 drums, 153 Toyota Sienna and 17 Toyota Camry, five boats, and three buses were all found on the suspects, according to the State Commandant, Akinsanya Abiodun, who revealed these on Thursday in Asaba while evaluating the Command's accomplishment of 2022.

Abiodun said all of these cars and containers held allegedly falsified petroleum products and stolen crude oil.

He claimed that out of these, six cases led to prosecutions, five remain the subject of investigations, and the NSCDC maintained constant watch over all crucial government facilities and resources.

He claims that within that time, 45 victims of traffic accidents were rescued at various locations throughout the State, while 381 victims of the fire were also saved, together with valuable property valued in the millions of naira.

The head of the NSCDC also said that out of the 36 cases recorded last year, the Command was able to settle 25 conflicts, ranging from land-related matters to marriage disputes and others, between the willing parties.

Abiodun added that at the time, 43 firms were renewed and the Command generated N15 million.
