NSCDC Says Boko Haram, ISWAP, Bandits Are Planning To Attack

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has raised an alarm over an alleged plot by Boko Haram, Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) and bandits to attack different states in the country.

According to reports, the alarm was raised in a memo seen by The Nigerian Tribune and the alert reveals that the sects possess sophisticated weapons to be used for targets in Katsina State.

The memo is signed by the Deputy Commandant General (DCG) of Operations, DD Mungadi, titled 'Heightened Plots By Terrorists To Stage Coordinated Attacks in Parts of the Country'.

It also disclosed that other terrorists are poised to hit the nation's capital, Abuja, and other states, including Lagos.

All State Commands have been advised by the NSCDC to protect public places and government facilities across the country.

Per the memo, Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters have "mobilised fighters and high calibre weapons particularly Rocket-propelled Grenade (RPG) launchers, Anti-Aircraft (AA) guns and General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGS)”.

The above weapons are meant for the offensive in Katsina, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The memo added that "two separate bandits groups’ are plotting coordinated attacks on North-West, North Central and South West. (Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Kogi, FCT and Lagos) respectively”.

NSCDC has instructed its personnel to increase deployment to schools, worship centres and critical national assets in their respective states to deal with possible threats by criminal elements.
