NSE Index: MTN, BUA Cement, Dangote Cement Share Price Slump

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market closed with 6,565 deals on Friday, November 20, 2020, higher than the 6,340 deals it closed with on Thursday, November 19, 2020. The volume reached 344,90 million units at the close of the market on Friday, lower than the 364,92 million units it closed with on Thursday.

The value of trades recorded on Friday was NGN4,222 billion, lower than the NGN3,501 billion of Thursday. Meanwhile, on Friday, the All-Share Index reached 34,136.82 index points, lower than the 34,643.65 All-Share Index of Thursday.

The stock market also ended with a NGN17,837 trillion equity capitalisation on Friday, lower than the NGN18,102 trillion recorded on Thursday.

Top Five Gainers

UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained NGN0.35 kobo to close trading at NGN4.15 kobo per share after opening today's trading with NGN3.8 kobo per share, according to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market data seen by AllNews.

NEM was second on the table, as its stock price gained NGN0.23 kobo to close the market with NGN2.58 kobo per share, having started trading today with NGN2.35 kobo per share.

NAHCO was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with a NGN0.12 kobo gain to move from the opening price of NGN2.18 kobo per share to NGN2.3 kobo per share.

Ikeja Hotel follows, closing the market with a gain of NGN0.1 kobo to end trading with NGN1.1 kobo per share from the opening share price of NGN1 per share.

AIICO was last on the top five gainers' table after its share price gained 9.78% to close trading at NGN1.01 per share, having opened trading at NGN0.92 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

On the top of the losers' list is BUA Cement, which had begun trading earlier today at NGN56 per share, only to drop in price by NGN-2.55 kobo to close at NGN53.45 kobo per share at the end of trading today.

MTN Nigeria was second on the chart after closing at NGN153 per share from its opening trade price of NGN155 per share; this represents a drop of NGN-2.

Dangote Cement share price fell by NGN-1.8 kobo as its share price closed trading at NGN193.2 kobo per share, lower than the NGN195 per share it opened with.

Dangote Sugar also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by NGN-0.7 kobo to close trading at NGN20.5 kobo per share, below the NGN21.2 kobo per share it opened with.

Wapco completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with NGN24.5 kobo per share, declining by NGN-0.6 kobo from the NGN25.1 kobo per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were Zenith Bank, which traded a volume of over 44.32 million units worth NGN1.13 billion. UBA was the second most traded stock today with over 41.23 million units worth over NGN337.79 million. First Bank was next on the list, trading 34.33 million units worth NGN255.33 million.

Access Bank was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 29.29 million units traded at a cost of over NGN256.27 million, while Transcorp completed the top five list with over 28.76 million units traded today, worth NGN29.13 million.
