NSGF chairman joins Gombe Emir, others to observe Eid-el-Fit

The Chairman of the Northern States Governors' Forum (NSGF), Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has joined the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, and other Muslims to observe the 2-Raka'at Eid-el-Fitr prayer.

The prayer was led by the Gombe Deputy Chief Imam, Ustaz Aliyu Hammari at the main Eid ground in Gombe on Wednesday.

The NSGF Chairman who is also the Gombe State Governor hosted top government officials, friends and associates to a lunch at the Banquet Hall of the Government House shortly after the Eid prayer.

He also led top government officials and other dignitaries to watch a mini durbar procession mounted by the Emir of Gombe which signalled the commencement of other Sallah activities in Gombe Emirate.

Governor Yahaya had earlier called on citizens to unite in prayer for Nigeria to surmount the current economic challenges.

In his goodwill message to the state, Yahaya said: "Eid-el-Fitr festival connotes sacrifice, selflessness, love and obedience to the tenets of Islam.

"I, therefore, enjoin us to draw enduring lessons from the Ramadan and show love to one another as well as promote harmony and peaceful coexistence among our diverse people.

“The same way we all remembered the less privileged and those afflicted by poverty during Ramadan, I implore us to carry over these attributes beyond Ramadan”.
