The National Teachers Institute (NTI), Kaduna has inducted 1,843 graduates of Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) into the teaching profession in the North-East.
The graduates were drawn from the North-Eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the induction ceremony took place in Yola, the Adamawa state's capital.
While addressing the inductees, the Director and Chief Executive Officer of NTI, Prof. Musa Maitafsiri congratulated them for successfully inducted into the teaching profession.
According to him, the institution had upgraded 18,367 teachers to obtain certified teaching qualifications in the states in a collaborative effort with the Federal Ministry of Education, TRCN and UNICEF.
He further urged state governments to invest in training and retraining of teachers to enhance the quality of education in the states.
Also speaking at the event, Registrar and Chief Executive of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Prof. Josiah Ajiboye said: “Oath taking is the most important legal basis for admission into a profession and a condition for professional practice
”Please note that any breach of the law particularly on oath, calls for sanctions."
He further thanked the NTI and UNICEF for their contributions in developing the country's education sector.
