Nuno Espirito Santo rules out Awoniyi from Everton game

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi will not be in action this weekend as the team gets set to travel to Goodison Park on Sunday to face Everton.

The Nigerian has missed the last five games for his club due to a thigh injury he copped before the league game against Luton Town.

Santo gave the details about his players' fitness on Friday and revealed that the former Liverpool and Union Berlin striker had begun minor training but was not forthcoming on when he is expected to be back fully for the club.

"Taiwo didn't join the group yet. He is still partially integrated into the group. Anthony [Elanga] in the middle of the week was been able to do some things with us. We are managing him until tomorrow and then will assess him regarding the game.

"We have just the same players out. [wily] Boly is out but we are recovering, Taiwo is coming back, so issues, but let's see."

With only five league games left for the 1980 European Cup winners this season, Forest are currently in 17th place on 26 points, just one point ahead of the relegation places. They suffered a four-point deduction for breaching Financial and Sustainability rules.
