NYSC: Acting DG Assures Of Support For Government Policies

Christy Uba, the Acting Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has assured that the scheme would not relent in supporting the policies of the Federal Government.

The DG added that NYSC was ready to ensure the success of the 2023 general elections and National Population/Housing Census.

She gave this assurance while addressing corps members and camp officials at the NYSC Anambra State Orientation Camp in Mbaukwu/Umuawulu.

The NYSC boss said the scheme as the first youth mobilisation corps, has helped promote unity in the country through its deployment process, engagement in national projects and community development tasks.

“Your participation in the 2023 election is an Adhoc assignment, you must be neutral and apolitical, and don’t violate any of the electoral laws. You are seriously advised to adhere to these instructions.

"Be good ambassadors of your institutions, families and NYSC. You are now part of history as millions of youths have passed through the Scheme, and today they are leaders.

"You must be security conscious at all times. You are expected to be of good conduct and avoid cutting corners”, Uba advised.

Uba warned corps members against engaging in social vices such as cultism, drug addiction, and cybercrime that might jeopardise their future,

She advised the to be patient, disciplined and diligent necessary for success in life.

The DG further urged the corp members to leverage the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme, stating “you are expected to participate in the post-camp training, and ensure you acquire a skill that will enable you to become employers of labour at the end of your service year.”

Reacting, the NYSC Anambra State Coordinator, Blessing Iruma said the Acting DG's visit to the camp on its cultural carnival day confirmed her passion for corps members.

She noted that the festival expresses the nation's rich cultural heritage which has been instrumental to the unity present among batches of corps members.
