The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Sokoto State, Alhaji Muhammadu Nakamba, has encouraged corps members to take advantage of the skill acquisition programs designed to foster self-reliance and productive living.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nakamba gave that advice at the inauguration of the Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Development (SAED) training at the Wamakko Orientation camp on Thursday.
He stated that eight programs were created in collaboration with various agencies to facilitate the training, and partnerships with trainers and funding institutions have been carefully implemented to prevent fraud and illegal activities,
The State Coordinator urged the corps members to be patriotic, and avoid cultism, drug abuse, and activities that threaten the peace and stability of the country.
He warned against unnecessary travels and stressed the need for high discipline in interactions with NYSC authorities and host communities.
Nakamba mentioned that the 2023 Batch A, Stream I corps members, consisting of 423 males and 304 females, were sworn in by Chief Judge Sa'idu Sifawa, represented by Chief Magistrate Umma Abubakar-Sadiq.
Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State advised the corps members to concentrate on promoting unity and to avoid sentimentality, according to Nakamba.
