NYSC: Corps Members Urged To Embrace Hard Work, Resilience

As they are posted to their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA), corps members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been tasked with embracing hard work and resilience.

The charge was given by Hassan Taura, the NYSC Kaduna State Coordinator and Reviewing Officer. at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch 'A' stream II orientation course on Tuesday in Kaduna.

He reminded corps members of the achievements made by the scheme on May 2, when it celebrated its golden jubilee, and he asked them to uphold the spirit of patriotism fostered during the previous 50 years.

According to the coordinator, the requirements of the NYSC Act and Bye-Laws as well as the policies of the locations of their primary assignments should serve as a guide for the corps members.

“You should avoid acts that can endanger your lives such as staying out late, attending night parties and visit to dangerous places.

”Rather, be good ambassadors of the NYSC and your families at all times.

“Be wary of acts that can portray the scheme in bad light. Avoid using social media for ethnic jingoism, rumour peddling and promotion of animosity.

“Your activities online should be targeted at self-improvement, promotion of the unity, peace and development of our dear country, Nigeria,” he said.

Taura emphasised the caution against nighttime travel and unauthorized journeys.

she advised that corps members should always board their vehicles at authorized motor parks to prevent being taken advantage of by criminals.

He urged employers to always accept corps members who had been assigned to them and to take the appropriate steps to ensure their welfare.

Taura added that in order to help the corps members reach their full potential, effective mentoring is necessary.

The coordinator praised the corps members for their high level of discipline and enthusiastic engagement in all camp activities.

He further commended the State Government, agencies and other corporate organisations for their support of the scheme in different ways.
