General Yakubu Gowon, the Founder of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is hopeful that the scheme’s Trust Fund bill will get Presidential Assent soon.
Gowon stated that the trust fund would provide funds for corps members who are entrepreneurs to establish their businesses, improve the quality of facilities at the orientation camps, and enhance further training in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, among other benefits.
He expressed this when he received some management staff of the Scheme led by the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed.
Gowon who congratulated the DG on his appointment as the twenty-second Chief Executive of the Scheme urged him to employ his wealth of experience to move the Scheme forward.
“All the managers of the Scheme since inception have done exceptionally well.
You have a good team to work with, strive and work to leave good legacies”, he advised.
Responding, Ahmed said the visit was to pay homage to the General.
He vowed to continue on the path of the founding fathers of the scheme.
