NYSC Ogun State Excuses 96  Nursing Corpers From Camp Orient

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ogun State has disclosed that no fewer than 96 pregnant women, nursing mothers and others with maternity related issues have been excused from participating in the three weeks NYSC Orientation Exercise in the state.

Belinda Faniyi, the State NYSC Coordinator, stated this during the swearing-in ceremony of NYSC Batch “B” Stream 1A  at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu. She stated that 786 corps members were officially sworn in for the mandatory one-year service in the state.

She further added that the 786 already-sworn in corps members comprised of 413 males and 373 females, for 2020 Batch B Stream 1A.
Faniyi further spoke about the measures that have been taken by the state, in conjunction with the camp officials.

She as well stressed that NYSC corpers for Batch "B" Stream 1 have been divided into two groups so as to comply with COVID-19 provisions, adding that stream 1B would resume camping next month.

When asked about the nursing mothers excused from camp , she said “Over 96 pregnant women, nursing mothers, and others with critical health conditions have been excused from strenuous aspects of the programme and consequently given permission.”

However, she  urged the corps members to be committed to their service, advising them to serve with all seriousness in unity the country through their service. Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Dr. Kehinde, who represented the Governor, Dapo Abiodun, also emphasized on the role corpers have to play in the nation’s regeneration and unity.
