NYSC Promo: New Corp Members To Get NHIS Insurance Fund

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the National Youth Service Corps to enroll  NYSC corps members into the National Health Insurance Scheme, the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim buttressed this on Monday.

The development which is the first of its kind seems to be on the verge of ushering in new policies that would be welcomed by youth and “would-be corpers” of Nigeria, the Director-General of NYSC assured this and also disclosed that the government is also liaising with security agencies across the nation to ensure the security of corps members wherever they are serving in the country.

This was stated during a media discussion with Media Executives, Correspondents and Bureau Chiefs held in Abuja.

The DG further stressed that as a result of the annual mobilisation of over 300,000 corps members, the NYSC, “remains the most critical platform for mentoring Nigerian youths as drivers of national unity and development.”

“I wish to use this opportunity to again express our gratitude to the security agencies and other stakeholders for their support. Furthermore, the scheme has concluded arrangement with the NHIS for the enrolment of corps members into the NHIS in line with a presidential directive. We have also expended huge resources on critical health needs of corps members, including footing of medical bills”, the DG said.
