As punishment for absconding during their service year, six corps members posted to Gombe State will repeat their service year.
On Thursday, 1,085 members of the 2021 Batch C Stream II National Youth Service Corps graduated from the various Gombe State local government areas.
While six are anticipated to return, another four left Gombe during their duty.
The state coordinator, Ada Imoni, addressed corps members in the Gombe Local Government Area and pleaded with them not to reject modest beginnings by employing the skills they had learned via the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme.
She urged students to consider how to launch businesses to achieve self-reliance because she claimed that the time for relying on the government for white-collar jobs has passed.
Imoni also called on them to say no to thuggery and other social vices as the scheme prepared corps members for the general elections come 2023.
Imoni, who was speaking on Community Development Service, praised those who distinguished themselves by making a lasting impression in their host communities.
According to Punch correspondent, Imoni visited all of the locations where the state's corps members received their certificates of national service.
Six of the 1.085 Corps members who graduated received service extensions for absconding during their service year in the state.
