Former governor of Anambra State Willie Obiano has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after a week in detention.
Obiano was apprehended just hours after he handed over to Chukwuma Soludo a week ago at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
According to reports, the EFCC granted Obiano administrative bail on Wednesday, March 23, while waiting for him to fulfill his bail conditions.
The ex-governor's passport has also been seized by the anti-graft agency as part of his bail conditions.
While being detained by the EFCC, a video clip of Obiano in shorts drinking water was leaked onto the internet, sparking backlash and condemnation from many who saw it as a way to humiliate him.
Speaking on the leaked video, the EFCC stated that the operative behind it has been identified and sanctioned by them.
