Obtain permits before erecting structure — Osun Commission

The Osun State Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, George Ibitayo Alabi has advised owners of major developments within the state to obtain necessary approvals before commencement of work at any of the Government Reservation Areas across Osun State

Alabi said the step has become necessary so as to make housing in Osun State more livable, sustainable and resilient.

He also said such approval could be obtained from the relevant departments of the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, Osun State Capital Development Authority and Local Government Authorities.

Alabi made this known in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Fritz Mobolaji Olaoye

He cited would-be developers of petrol stations, banks, event halls, hotels, places of worship, educational and health institutions and resort centres among others to be wary of this directive.

The statement warned that buildings along flood plains, marshy and waterlogged areas should be discouraged and not be approved in such areas.

The press statement reads in part, "It is illegal to erect buildings within the road setbacks, right of ways, or under high tension lines which ranges from 330kVA, 132kVA, 33kVA and 11kVA."
