Officials Of Lagos State Safety Commission Attacked By Guard

Officials of the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSSC) were reportedly attacked while enforcing the ban on large social gatherings in the state as instituted by the government due to the pandemic.

This was disclosed by the Technical Adviser of the commission, Seun Awojobi, who said that the officials were assaulted at Osigold Hotels and Bar that hosted no less than 100 guests.

He said that the social gathering was in violation of the infectious diseases in the state and that while the officials attempted to shut the place down, they were shot at.

The Director General of the Commission, Lanre Mojola, said that the LSSC was dedicated to ensuring that the safety guidelines set down by the government was complied with.

Mojola added that the commission, in its compliance efforts has sealed 10 social and religious venues.

He urged residents of the state to be responsible for their health and those of others, which will serve to complement the efforts of the state government in stemming the spread of the virus.

Mojola said, “Residents must take responsibility and fight against the novel coronavirus more seriously to complement the government’s efforts at curbing the spread of the virus.”

Lagos State continues to top other states in the number of coronavirus cases with 13,626 cases, and 177 fatalities.
