OGITECH Holds 5th Convocation, Charges Graduates On Patrioti

The Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH) Igbesa, has held its fifth convocation, graduating 2,726 Ordinary National Diplomas (OND) and Higher National Diplomas (HND) students for the 2021/2022 academic session. 

The Rector of the institution, Dr Olufunke Akinkurolere, speaking during the event said 18 of the graduating students graduated with distinction, with Aminat Adenuga from the Chemistry Department with 3.94 CGPA emerging as the overall best graduating student.

Akinkurolere encouraged the students to be patriotic rather than add to the existing problems in the country. 

She further advised that put to the best use the entrepreneurial skills they acquired from the institution to get opportunities in the competitive world market.

”Make positive changes and rebuild the falling walls of our Jerusalem which is Nigeria. Do not contribute to the country’s woes, rather, be patriotic and defend the country with all the skills you have acquired here.

“As an institute, we have laid the necessary foundation through the disciplines each of you underwent. It is time for you to build on all these and more,” she said.

Also addressing the graduating students, Governor Dapo Abiodun, advised the students to be innovative and seek to be job creators rather than seekers.

Represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedeke, Governor Abiodun urged the students to explore the skills and knowledge they have received. 

“You have been shaped, nurtured, trained and equipped for challenges and opportunities of life. It is time for you to showcase your talent, the skills and knowledge inculcated in you.

“You should not be job seekers, but job creators. Therefore you need to be creative and innovative. You have gathered entrepreneurial and information technology skills which I advise you to exhibit,” he urged.

He further commended the administration of OGITECH for the height the institution has gained, assuring to keep protecting the education sector of the state.

Valedictorian Adenuga, speaking on behalf of the students, thanked the government for providing a conducive learning environment, promising to be good representatives of the institution.
