Ogun Calls On Artisans To Get Certified

Prof Joseph Odemuyiwa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, has called on technicians and artisans in the state to obtain the National Business and Technical Examination’s Modular Trade certification for competency.

According to a statement by the Press Officer, Bola Sobola, he spoke at a media briefing in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

According to him, the certificates are meant for practising artisans in the informal sector, for them to be viable and proficient in society.

He also stated that skill certificates are also used for admission into higher institutions.

“We have other certificates as well but the only one I would like to mention is the Modular Trade Certificate, which is for artisans and for anybody, even a university student who wants to have skills qualification, so you have the academic certificate as well as skills qualification.

“We are working very hard to encourage Nigerians to take an interest in skills certificates.

“Everybody wants to go to universities and higher institutions and obtain a good certificate.

“But without skills, the dream of Nigeria to be one of the 20 greatest world economies in the world cannot be achieved.’’
