Ogun Communities, Residents Lament Condition Of Wole Soyinka

The residents of Olokuta Train Station road have lamented the bad state of the major road leading to the Professor Wole Soyinka Train Station, Abeokuta Ogun State.

The residents and Community Development Associations (CDA) along the road lamented this in an open letter to the state governor, Dapo Abiodun on Saturday.

The residents who requested the state government to help in reconstructing the road revealed that the efforts of the over 30 communities to rehabilitate the road has been in vain due to the huge cost of its maintenance.

They also lamented that the road has become a death trap as residents have been forced to abandon their vehicles and trek to Olokuta Junction, Idi-Aba to join public transportation.

"Your Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun - MFR

"Sir, your attention is being drawn to the bad state of the only major road that leads to Professor Wole Soyinka Train Station in Abeokuta.

"This road starts from the Olokuta Junction along Federal Medical Center,Abeokuta-OGTV-Ajebo Road and passes through Presidential Mandate Estate (Olokuta) and straight to the Professor Wole Soyinka Train Station.

"Help is being solicited from your Government sir, to help us reconstruct this road. All the efforts of over 30 Community Development Associations to rehabilitate this road are in vain because the huge cost of maintaining this road is now beyond their capacities.

"All the residents of this singular road which is now death traps and tool of vehicular and life destruction had abandoned their vehicles and always treck to Olokuta Junction, Idi-Aba to join public transport as both Okada and relatives of the residents along this road had ceased to ply our road again .

"The Federal Government deemed it fit to construct the magnificent train station along Ibadan-Lagos dual carriage rail line at Abeokuta for the benefit of all and sundry especially the people of Abeokuta. It's our prayer that this special gift wouldn't be source of our sorrow.

"This road is no more motorable as erosion had really damaged the road to the extent that our cars are now falling so easily into the gullies and pits already dug by the erosion along the Olokuta-Train Station Road.

"I'm using this medium to appeal to our amiable, ever-listening, hard-working and 'ore mekunnu' to please save our souls to help us to reconstruct the Olokuta-Train Station Road, Abeokuta and we shall forever be grateful.

"Sir, I believe you will respond to our appeal to reconstruct this road to the glory of Almighty God and benefits of humanity.

"God bless all the Residents of Olokuta -Train Station Road

"God bless all the Community Development Associations along the road.

"God bless Abeokuta. God bless Ogun State."
