Ogun: Governor Abiodun Seeks Compromise For Olamilekan

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has asked the duo of Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and a former member of the Federal House of Representatives from Egbado South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, Abiodun Akinlade to drop their Ogun West senatorial ambition under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan.

Sources revealed that while Nasir was given an option to contest for House of Representatives position to represent Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency, Akinlade would be contesting to represent Egbado South/Ipokia Federal Constituency.

The development was reportedly borne our of the belief that only Olamilekan has the capacity to defeat the incumbent Senator Tolu Odebiyi, representing Ogun West under the APC in the 2023 general elections.

It will be recalled that Olamilekan is currently representing Lagos West Senatorial District, an office he assumed in 2015 after serving in the Lagos State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2011 and in the Federal House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015 from Alimosho Federal Constituency.

He is said to be moving to Ogun State as an indigene of Yewaland to replicate what he has been doing in Lagos State for his people in Ogun State.

Nasir will be slugging it out with about five aspirants from the federal constituency.

These include; Kayode Oladele, Suraju Adekunbi, Wasiu Isiaka, Tope Kuyebi and Jimoh Olaifa who is the incumbent.

Isiaka, a three-time gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State came third in the 2019 election, which was won by Governor Dapo Abiodun of the APC.

Akinlade has also represented Ogun State in the Federal Character Commission (FCC) after leaving the House of Representatives in 2019.
