Ogun: Kidnapped Policemen Rescued

Information reaching AllNews Nigeria indicates that the three police officers who were kidnapped by armed gunmen in Ogun State are now free.

Reliable information also indicates that the police officers, who travelled to Ogun from Zone 2 in Onikan, Lagos, for an investigation, were abducted on Thursday in broad daylight along the Wasinmi road in the Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State.

The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi revealed that the kidnappers were operating in military camouflage.

The police spokesperson also revealed that just one policeman was among the three victims.

Speaking on the rescue effort, Oyeyemi stated that Ogun Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole had directed the anti-kidnapping unit and other tactical squad of the command had been ordered to move into the area and work with Ewekoro Divisional Headquarters in rescuing the victims.

Oyeyemi claimed that the kidnappers were left with no choice but to release their victims after applying what he described as intense pressure and aggressive trailing.

The Commissioner of Police who ordered that the kidnappers be detained and charged added that the victims had been reunited with their families.
