Ogun police nabs duo for alleged rape of female students

The Police in Ogun State has arrested two suspects, Rotimi Boluwatife and Adeyemi Tosin for allegedly raping two female students, Alimo Karimu and Temitope Ojo.

The police revealed that the duo drugged the two female students with noodles in the Ifo local government area of Ogun State.

According to The Punch report, a police source, who was privy to the incident but is not permitted to speak to the media, said on Monday that the female students’ meals were laced with cannabis, which was used to cook the noodles during a visit to the suspects’ house.

It was said that the students left home in the morning for school, Sholu High School at Ifo, but one of them, Karimu, came home displaying an unregular and funny attitude, which gave her parents a clue that she was under the influence of drugs.

She later confessed after interrogation by her parents and also disclosed the whereabouts of their neighbour’s child, Ojo, who was said to be lying lifelessly in the suspected rapist’s house.

The case was reported to the Ifo Division Police Station by the victims’ parents, and the operatives proactively responded to the case as they visited the alleged culprit’s house and found Ojo in a toxic condition.

The men were arrested, and they confessed that they raped the girls after adding illicit substances (narcotic cannabis) to the noodles they ate at their place, which sedated them.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and gave a detailed account of the event, in which the suspects admitted to perpetrating the crime.

“On May 22, 2024, at about 19:00 hours, one Karimu Modinat ‘F’ of Olorunsogo Area of Ifo with one Jamiu Jimoh ‘M’ of the same address came to the station and reported that their daughter, one Karimu Alimo, aged 17-year-old and Temitope Ojo aged 18-year-old, left home to Sholu High School Ifo at about 07:42 hours, and at about 14:42 hours, the said Karimu Alimo came home with unstable health, suspected to have been on drugs.

“They further stated that, on interrogation, she stated that the said Temitope Ojo was lying helplessly in a house. On receiving the report, the DCB moved to the said house, where one Rotimi Boluwatife ‘M’ aged 23, and one Adeyemi Tosin aged 29, of Ite Egun Area of Ifo, were arrested.

“Temitope Ojo was seen in the house in unstable health. They were all brought to the station. The suspect admitted mixing narcotic cannabis to cook noodles, that made the two girls sleep off, and they were both raped," Odutola said
